A+R Ales was created with the focus of family and a better quality of life. We moved to Tennessee in 2014 from California in order to be closer to family while planting our roots and starting our own family. It is our goal to establish new traditions while honoring and respecting past traditions. We want to develope a family oriented, community involved business for generations ahead. A+R Ales will focus on producing quality products for a better quality of life.
The AR stands for the newlywed co-founders, Andrew and Robin Albers, while the "+" sign represents the next generations ahead. The "diamond" shape pays tribute to Robin's family history by referencing their family farm, The Diamond F Ranch, that has been in the family since the early 1800's.
Being able to produce our beer commercially has been a dream for the past decade. It has been a long, difficult journey to get to where we are today. Over the years we have traveled to many breweries, sampled a wide variety of beers, and talked to many beer enthusiasts. Some of these enthusiast included potential investors. We came close to opening a production brewery in California a few times, and even began planning a brewery in South America. However, they all fell through.
Determined and unwilling to give up, we kept working towards our dream and continued to pursue all of our options. We crossed paths with Carson’s Brewery and things started falling into place. We didn’t consider contract brewing in the past, but feel that this is the path we are suppose to take. Carson’s Brewery has opened their doors for us in order to finally make a dream come true.
“I can’t imagine doing anything else. Creating recipes and crafting beer is something I have to do. It is a deep rooted passion that comes from within and I can’t stop. I imagine its like a musician who constantly hears music even when no one is playing. I’m the same way with beer.” – Andrew.
Andrew Albers began brewing beer in Southern California nearly a decade ago. He started with a simple home brewing kit and quickly began upgrading his operations. He left his software career behind and followed his passion for the craft of brewing. Andrew became the Lead Night Brewer at a brewing production facility overseeing their operations on a 10,000 bbl capacity brewhouse. Andrew will be in charge of operations.
Robin Albers began learning about craft beer over 5 years ago on her first date with Andrew. She saw a weird liquid fermenting in a carboy in the guest bathroom of Andrews house. Not knowing what it was, she began asking questions and has been learning about craft beer ever since. Robin also began assisting Andrew with the home brewing operations. Robins career has been in the preschool industry for the past decade. She has worked her way up the corporate ladder to become a Preschool Director for the past 7 years. Robin will be taking charge of sales and customer service.
